Sermons – A New Addition to our Magazine
On August 1, 2023, we proudly launched the new website for the Baptist Peacemaker. This site is the result of the hard work and dedication of our editorial team and staff, who poured countless hours into developing this new format. We transitioned the Baptist Peacemaker to an online platform for several reasons, including making our magazine more accessible globally and expanding our content to include various genres such as images, podcasts, and more.
We are immensely proud of our content. The quality and depth of our stories reflect our vision of profoundly impacting the church and North American Christianity with a message of peace, justice, and hope. As we review our content, we are delighted by its diversity and excited to see how peace and justice continually manifest in dynamic and refreshing ways.
With this in mind, we are thrilled to announce a new section of the Baptist Peacemaker: Sermons. This new section broadens the Sunday worship service by sharing the Sermons preached in a diversity of churches with our readers. This idea stems from our editorial team's desire to continue creating spaces that uncover Divine presence as we invite readers to engage with different settings and contexts. As we witness the transformation of the church beyond traditional temples and structures, we see our magazine as part of this monumental shift, discovering God in new and invigorating spaces.
We cherish our Sunday services, Bible studies, and weekly meetings. Yet, we are also aware of the changing landscape of the church in alternative spaces outside the temple. This evolution doesn't diminish the importance of our Sunday services but adds a new dimension to encountering the Sacred, inviting us to find God in unconventional places. In this spirit, we echo the powerful words of theologian Matilde Moros, who said, “[d]oing theology from a new place, from the silenced places, means doing it from areas that, if talked about, were not seen as a place of encounter with God, but as a place from which denouncing others in the name of God could happen.”
Our magazine explores and opens these places; they are the reason we are driven to create high-quality content. Our stories are intentionally designed to reclaim theological spaces overshadowed by power dynamics that have long suppressed and minimized communities. With Sermons, our goal is to bring Sunday service messages to life, making them accessible to all our readers in a new format, thereby extending the reach of Sunday worship beyond the four walls of the church. We believe that the Divine presence accompanying each preacher on Sundays is also present in the devotional reading of these powerful Sermons in our magazine.
Sermons launches on March 3. We hope this new space resurrects our knowledge and engagement with the Sacred beyond the Sunday services. We pray that each Sermon touches and transforms the lives of those who read them. We believe God is present in each of their words, and that through the Grace and Love of the Almighty we can encounter peace, justice and liberation. We invite you to send your sermons for publication.
In Christ,
